    Banyan Global is an international development consulting firm committed to improving livelihoods through market approaches for a broad and lasting impact. The firm is headquartered in Washington, DC with staff working in a number of developing countries. Banyan Global operates seamlessly within six practice areas: health, finance and investment, enterprise development, gender, youth, and evaluation and learning.


    Banyan Global is recruiting an intern to support the newly-formed Banyan Global Innovation and Learning Hub. The Banyan Global Innovation and Learning Hub identifies specific examples of innovative technical programming and disseminates learning internally and externally, with the goal of increasing the cost-effectiveness of Banyan Global programming, increasing the firm’s visibility, and improving development outcomes.


    Banyan Global internships are unpaid. Interns can work full-time or part-time schedules, although full-time is preferred. The anticipated start date for this internship is summer or fall 2019.


    • Innovation: Conduct research and monitor trends on relevant innovation in international development. This work might include identifying and investigating emerging technologies and tech-oriented start-ups, as well as identifying innovative ways of improving cost-effectiveness (value for money) in international development programming.
    • Learning: Draw on literature and program performance to stimulate knowledge sharing and learning. This work might include monitoring USAID’s CLA website and other learning publications, interviewing program staff, designing learning agendas, and developing templates and best practice guides.
    • Communication: Build knowledge management database for disseminating learning around innovation at Banyan Global. This work might include identifying internal and external outlets, researching relevant occasions and advocacy days, and generating templates and best practices guides.


    • Undergraduate student or recent college graduate
    • Strong interest in international development
    • Knowledge of innovation in development, or a willingness to learn
    • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and attention to detail
    • Excellent research and writing skills
