Banyan Global is recruiting for a Senior Technical Advisor for the anticipated USAID/Guatemala’s Business Enabling Environment (BEE) Project. This position will lead the project’s efforts to improve Guatemala’s business regulatory environment, support activities to attract and leverage FDI, facilitate access to finance for micro, small, and medium-sized (MSME) businesses, and assist the Guatemalan government in its secondary city growth strategies. The Senior Technical Advisor is accountable for technical project deliverables and results, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of the project’s technical activities. The position is full-time and based in Guatemala City and is contingent upon funding. Only Guatemalan citizens should apply.

• Provide technical leadership and strategy to enhance Guatemala’s regulatory framework to encourage investment, streamline FDI procedures, provide transaction advisory services, and improve the business environment for MSMEs in high potential sectors and through policy reforms and capacity strengthening.
• Manage a team of technical staff and consultants to ensure effective performance and institutionalization of expertise.
• Lead the project’s technical outreach to potential local partners and provide support for their technical capacity building.
• Support the project’s development of annual workplans and results reporting to USAID.
• Maintain strong results focus with partners, and provide regular technical input into, and support for the implementation of local partner work-plans.
• Ensure the quality of all technical activities and deliverables.
• Support the Chief of Party to provide reliable and accurate details on project results to USAID, government counterparts, and key stakeholders.
• Build and maintain effective collaboration, coordination, and partnerships across key internal and external stakeholders and identify and ensure synergies with other relevant efforts to achieve maximum impact.

• At least 10 years of professional experience managing complex international development programming in Guatemala, preferably with a dedicated focus on private sector engagement, access to finance, investment promotion, urban planning and secondary city growth strategies, and policy reform.
• Demonstrated familiarity with fintech solutions to facilitate MSME access to finance, best practices in FDI attraction, government BEE reform activities, and secondary cities and urban strengthening models.
• Proven ability to provide technical leadership and support, capacity building and technical assistance on the design and implementation of activities related to the above noted technical areas.
• Extensive knowledge of Guatemala’s financial sector; government organizations and private sector entities (impact investment funds) involved in investment facilitation and promotion; local government urban planning and growth strategies; and business enabling environment reform activities.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with senior-level colleagues, particularly building productive and collaborative partnerships with government agencies, civil society, private sector groups, USAID, and international organizations.
• Master’s degree or higher in business administration, international finance, international development, or related fields.
